A Cozy Place to Learn, Play, and Grow
Little Oakies is a small-group enrichment program designed to support young children in developing strong communication and social skills through connection, play, and meaningful interaction. The program is located in the Garden Oaks/Oak Forest area of Houston.
We offer a warm, play-based environment where children ages 2.5-4 can build the foundations for confident self-expression, peer relationships, and early communication success. With a group size limited to just five children per session, our setting is cozy, supportive, and thoughtfully designed for meaningful interaction..
Each session is led by a certified speech-language pathologist with a background in early childhood education. We use child-centered, play-based activities to guide language development, turn-taking, problem solving, and social interaction — always meeting children where they are.
Hi, I’m Meghan McAllister, M.S., SLP (she/her), the facilitator at Little Oakies. I’m a speech-language pathologist with a background in early childhood education, and I’ve spent years supporting young children in both classrooms and therapy settings.
Little Oakies grew from my passion for creating calm, connection-centered spaces where young children can grow in communication, confidence, and relationships. My approach blends play-based learning with a strong foundation in language development, social connection, and emotional safety.
This work is deeply personal to me. I believe that when children feel safe, heard, and supported, they communicate more freely, connect more deeply, and thrive in all the ways that truly matter.
Our Philosophy
At Little Oakies, we view communication as more than just words — it's how children connect, share, relate, and begin to understand themselves and others. We believe that early communication and social interaction grow best in environments rooted in trust, playfulness, and presence.
Rather than focusing on performance or correction, we focus on relationship and regulation. Children are invited into co-created experiences where their ideas matter, their feelings are welcomed, and their voice — in whatever form it takes — is valued.
Our work is guided by a deep respect for the whole child. We prioritize:
Emotional safety as the foundation for communication
Co-regulation as a tool for connection and learning
Play as the most natural and effective way to practice language and social skills
